MacMat^® provides permanent erosion protection on upland slopes, streambanks, wetland boundaries, and shorelines. It is a turf reinforced mat (TRM) used as a permanent erosion control blanket of UV stabilized, non-degradable synthetic fibers. This roll erosion control product (RECP) is made of a three-dimensional geomat consisting of entangled polypropylene monofilaments that are heat bonded at the contact points to provide a dimensionally stable matrix for soil erosion protection. The mats provide a stable medium to encourage natural colonization and support healthy plant growth. In certain instances MacMat^® may be used in conjunction with double twist wire mesh reinforcement for long term root reinforcement, erosion control and revegetation.

MacMat^® R is a geo-composite TRM reinforced with a double twisted mesh during the manufacturing process. MacMat^® R is used on projects where the tensile strength and the shear resistance require a more preferment product. The steel mesh integrated to the polypropylene matrix is galvanized for long lasting or galvanized with PVC coating for extreme durability.
