Geosynthetics Applications

Maccaferri manufactures and distributes a range of geosynthetics to fulfill a broad range of drainage, filtration, separation and reinforcement applications in the fields of civil and hydraulic engineering.

At the end of May 2006, Officine Maccaferri announced its acquisition of Linear Composites Ltd. Linear Composites Ltd, based in Oakworth, West Yorkshire (UK), was founded in 1969 and is a manufacturer of geosynthetics and fiber reinforced products used in civil engineering, industrial and military applications. The Company provides its products in more than 40 countries including USA, Canada and Mexico.

This acquisition further strengthens the Maccaferri Group's leadership position in providing advanced solutions in the field of civil engineering. This acquisition widens the range of geosynthetics offered by Maccaferri after the acquisition of XTEX, Inc. by Maccaferri Brazil. Today we are able to provide a broad range of specific solutions to suit individual applications and needs for its North American market.

Geosynthetics Products:

  • MacGrid® WB - bi-axial polymer geosynthetics used in basal reinforcement for paved or unpaved roads
  • MacGrid® EB - biaxial geosynthetics has a variety of applications such as: reinforcing a working platform over expansive clays; reinforcing an  embankment over a weak subgrade; or base reinforcement of a paved or unpaved road.
  • MacGrid® WG - woven geosynthetics are predominantly used in Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) and Reinforced Soil Slope (RSS) structures of virtually any height, and for stabilizing and reinforcing subgrades.
  • MacTex® Woven & Non-woven geosynthetics - polypropylene woven or non-woven needle punched geotextile fabric widely used in construction as a separation, filtration, protection, or reinforcing layer.
