Maccaferri now has three different types of reinforcement solutions for roadway structural
sections. When lighter reinforcement is needed or to separate different types of embankment
materials, MacTex® geotextiles would be the recommended solution.
MacTex® is recommended because it is both cost effective and provides excellent
reinforcement strength.
When a heavier reinforcement is needed to add tensile strength to the roadway
structural section, Road Mesh® is the most viable alternative
for adding stability. Road Mesh® will not only significantly improve the load bearing
capacity of the roadway, but will add to the life of the roadway structure and reduce the
long term maintenance costs.
If a heavy duty reinforcement strength is required, Terram Grids
can provide ultimate tensile strengths up to 1250 KN/m. This type of reinforcement
is used in areas where deep foundation layers of the natural soil is of a clay, sandy clay or
silty clay type material. Terram grids are also frequently used in combination with deep
piles. This type of construction technique can be found throughout Europe for the
construction of new freeway systems.
